Little Thetford
Cambridgeshire

May 2004

Me on the back lane that ran to the north of Driver's farm, now houses. I remembered this bridge from 35 years ago as if in a dream: it was still there. Three generations. Martha had never visited the village before. Jimmy on the river bank. I used to roam it for hours at the same age.
My dad taking a photo of me on the bank - an echo of 40 years ago. On the stile. I was last photographed here 40 years ago. Three generations of oldest sons. My mother, formerly Marion Cornwell of Green Hill, Little Thetford.
My parents, Ely Cathedral in the distance. Jacquie, Martha and my mum. The track between the river and the railway line. The white house on the right is the first house I ever lived in (1961-64)
St George, Little Thetford. I was baptised here, my parents were married here. The school. I only attended it for one term in early 1966. The village chapel. I've never been inside. The Round House, Little Thetford - a charming 18th century gothick folly.
My Uncle Jack (Cornwell) on the village war memorial.
