All Saints, Writtle

Writtle

Alternatively, if you don't have flash enabled, you can go straight to the set for this church on flickr.

Writtle is the poshest part of Chelmsford, and was once the larger town, perhaps up until the 19th Century. A wide, beautiful village green lined with stately 18th and 19th Century houses. You can see it must once have been the market place. The church is up an alley lined with older houses. Huge, entirely urban in character. Loads of late 19th Century glass, no fewer than sixteen late medieval figure brasses! It is open every day.
